Newborn photography is my passion. I love creating beautiful images of your precious newborn, in a time that is so fleeting, for you to treasure forever. All my newborn sessions are baby led, allowing 3-4 hours to feed, settle and photograph your tiny baby. I like to tailor each session to meet your needs so if there are any photos of mine that you particularly love, please do let me know.

I have trained with some of the world’s leading specialist newborn photographers so you can relax and enjoy your session, safe in the knowledge that your baby is in good hands.

How it works

It is best to book your newborn photography session before your baby arrives, ideally just after your 20 week scan. To get the best possible photos it is better to photograph a baby under 14 days old. At this age they are still sleepy and happy to curl up for those beautiful squishy newborn photos. Booking in advance ensures that I will set time aside in my diary to photograph your baby within this timeframe. I book a limited number of newborn photography sessions each month so tend to get booked up in advance, but if your baby is already here please do contact me; I may be able to squeeze you in if I am waiting for other babies to arrive. After booking I will send a preparation guide which will give full details of your session.

I am a qualified teacher and have worked with young children for many years. I have a calm, confident manner with children and babies alike, engaging them to take the best possible images in which their personalities shine. Read more about me and how I work… It is important to book early so please do get in touch if you have any questions!

About the session

I offer Newborn Sessions both in my studio in Whitstable and in your own home, depending on which you would prefer. Being in the studio enables me to focus more on posing your baby, whilst in home lifestyle shoots focus on capturing your baby in their own environment and photographing lots of family snuggles. I cover most of Kent* and can easily travel to Canterbury and the surrounding area. My newborn sessions are baby led, allowing plenty of time for feeding, soothing and posing to achieve beautiful images. Typically a newborn session lasts around 3 hours, sometimes longer if baby is a light sleeper or hungry. *travel expenses apply if you are further than a 10 mile radius from Whitstable.

Preparation

Before the shoot, please feed baby 2-3 hours in advance, and be prepared to feed him or her at the beginning of the session. The easiest way to ensure a sleepy baby is the willingness to nurse/bottlefeed off and on throughout the session. Try not to let him or her sleep beforehand; instead give them a bath, sing songs, tickle their toes, maybe even let them fuss a little for the hours beforehand. It may sound a bit fussy, but it will ensure those perfectly squishy, sleepy newborn pictures are just perfect! Other questions you may have…

Can you photograph my baby with their sibling?

I love capturing the bond between a baby and their family. I photograph baby with their sibling(s) at the beginning of the session then take shots of the whole family together. This means that the older child can then be taken home or out so that they do not have to endure 3 hours in the studio.

What should we wear?

My photography style is natural and I love to use soft, neutral colours. I advise that older brothers wear jeans or chinos and a plain white t-shirt. Older sisters look great in pretty cream or white dresses.

Mums and Dads, wear whatever you are comfortable in, avoiding bright colours, black, patterns and logos. How do I select my package and images?

I spend many hours lovingly editing your images to produce the final product. Around 3-4 weeks after your session I will send a link to an online viewing gallery. This will be live for 7 days for you to choose your package and the prints you would like to order.

What do I need to bring to my session?

My sessions include full use of my accessories so all you need to bring is a blanket to wrap baby in and plenty of feeds. If there is something special that you would like included in a photograph, like a blanket or soft toy, please bring it along to your photo shoot.
