Turning one is a big milestone!
You don’t want the day to pass unnoticed but we also know that a one year old isn’t going to remember this big day.
Here are some first birthday ideas for creating memories for you and your little one to look back on.
#1 Have a party
Ok, so your baby won’t remember this, but you will!
Why not celebrate making it through the first year of parenting with family and friends…you deserve it!
It doesn’t have to be fancy but hey, after the couple of years we’ve had, just being able to enjoy loved one’s company is a luxury.
FIRST BIRTHDAY IDEAS – #2 Enjoy a special day out
All babies love a day out somewhere fun.
Take them to the beach and spend time digging in the sand and dipping those little toes in the sea.
I’m sure your baby has spent a lot of time reading animal books by the time they reach their first birthday, and they might even be beginning to associate animals with the noises they make, so a trip to a zoo or farm is a great way to develop learning and have lots of fun too.
#3 Make a memory box
A memory box is a fantastic keepsake for your baby’s first birthday. I’m sure that in years to come you and your little one will spend time chatting over the items that were special when they were a baby.
You could include:
- A first babygro
- A special toy
- A blanket
- A collection of first birthday cards or all the lovely things people said in their cards when they were born
- A pair of shoes or socks to show how tiny they were
- Photographs of milestones
FIRST BIRTHDAY IDEAS #4 Relax
It’s probably been a really busy year so why not take time to chill out at home for the day and spend some quality time together for your little one’s first birthday.
Paint pictures, bake cakes or just snuggle and feel the love!
#5 Have a cake smash photo shoot
Cake smashes have become so popular in recent years, they are a must for turning one! The fun, the giggles, the expressions…just have to be captured!
Cake smash sessions are unique because they are a 3-in-1 session. Your baby will have:
*A traditional portrait before having the cake
*Cake smash with either a fruit cake or a traditional frosted cake
*Splash time in a vintage tub or a sink bath (this is often the most popular part with babies!)
